OLIVIA SANLLORENTE BOLINCHES
Graduated in Biology from the University of Granada in 2004 and received her PhD from the UGR in 2010.
Since I was a child I have been passionate about science and especially nature, so my great dream was to be able to study Biology. Later, I decided to dedicate myself to research and I did my doctoral thesis (supervised by Dr. Alberto Tinaut and Dr. Francisca Ruano) on population genetics and phylogeny of a slave-making ant endemic to the southeastern peninsula at the UGR. Afterwards, I obtained two postdoctoral grants (UGR and UJA) in which I investigated the transposons (mobile genetic elements) of the ant genome. Currently, I enjoy a Marie Curie grant at the UGR on the effect of urbanization on insect diversity and its relationship with human well-being and the extinction of experience.
Lines of research:
Urban biodiversity
Population genetics.
Molecular phylogeny.
