Teaching materials

As part of our vocation to bring urban ecology and biodiversity closer to society, in addition to participating in scientific outreach events, we dedicate a large part of our efforts to creating and producing educational material for teachers, environmental monitors, etc., who want to use it in their activities or workshops.

Educational notebook to work on biodiversity in the classroom (and outside of it)

This is a collection of experiences designed by our team to work on biodiversity with students from Early Childhood Education to High School, with an emphasis on urban ecology. The work is pending publication, so we attach only a brief sample.

Urban biodiversity: An unexpected neighbor

Talk given by Professor Carlos Jerez del Valle within the online conference series "LA UGR VA AL INSTITUTO" (UGR GOES TO THE INSTITUTE), part of the educational program of the University of Granada #EducaUGR.

The conference covers the concept of urban biodiversity, its characteristics, values and consequences. The conference is mainly aimed at primary and secondary school students.

EDUCATIONAL TOURS
"Walks through urban biodiversity"

Our team has designed two educational itineraries in Granada (Spain) to talk about urban biodiversity both in the area around the Fuente Nueva Campus (University Walkways) and in the Paseo del Salón. These tours are carried out annually at the scientific outreach events in which we participate ("Science Week", "European Researchers' Night", "Open Classroom of the Faculty of Sciences" etc.).

Juan Diego Ibáñez Álamo, a professor in the Department of Zoology at the University of Granada, speaks the students participating in the URBAN BIODIVERSITY IN SPANISH EDUCATIONAL CENTERS (BUCES) project about Urban Flora and Fauna and how Nature benefits us in cities.
