Graduated in Biology from the UGR in 2004, having obtained the End of Degree Award from the Academy of Mathematical, Physical-Chemical and Natural Sciences of Granada, as well as the Third National Prize in Biology studies awarded by the Ministry of Education and Science.

Between 2005 and 2010 I completed my doctoral thesis at the UGR, funded by a University Teacher Training grant from the Ministry of Education, and for which I obtained the Extraordinary Doctoral Award in Experimental Sciences from the University of Granada and the Award for the Best Doctoral Thesis in Ornithology awarded by the Spanish Ornithological Society. Between 2010 and 2014 I continued my research at the UGR through two postdoctoral contracts. In 2015 I obtained a prestigious European postdoctoral contract with which I continued my studies for two years between the Doñana Biological Station (CSIC) and the University of Groningen (Holland). In 2017 I moved permanently to Groningen where I was contracted as a postdoc until I obtained a contract as Assistant Professor in the Department of Zoology at the UGR.
